revolutionary road

you know those brilliant movies that left a bitter taste in the end? i’m not making a  negative/destructive critic about  REVOLUTIONARY ROAD, quite the contrary. is genial and attractive the way this tragedy was written by RICHARD YATES in 1961 and interpreted by the FAMOUS COUPLE FROM THE SINKING TITANIC. after 11 years they re-join forces and give life to the WHEELERS, a mid-age couple who recently move to REVOLUTIONARY ROAD, and begin wonder if they ever followed their dreams until then. the drama comes with infidelities, false promises, former mathematicians under psychiatric care and abortion. if you misunderstood, when i talked about that bitter taste, i meant that it doesn’t come from any production/representation failure in this film. only for showing us an hard perspective how fragile life is.

KNOWING is a 2009 science-fiction film directed by ALEX PROYAS and starring NICOLAS CAGE in the role of JOHN KOESTLER. his son CALEB is chosen to open a mysterious envelope with a letter full of numbers placed in a time-capsule, during 1959, at william dawes elementary school in lexington. at first everyone think this are just some random numbers, but after an sleepless night and some whiskey bottles, JOHN finds a connection in all this numbers and some past human disasters. but also can predict future catastrophes, like a plane/metro crash and DOOMSDAY. S.E. are basically the strongest point here, quite real and shocky to the viewer. on other hand, the second part got me disappointed, for its predictability and some flaws along the story.

this is one of those that deserves to be watched in cinema,  so it is worth pay 3 or 4 € for the end of the world!!

gardens of the night.

mowgli and the jungle.

gardens of the nightgardens of the night

this one almost made me drop a tear. GARDENS OF THE NIGHT is a new movie that debuted last year and tells the story of two little children who are kidnapped and taken from their normal life and family circle. delivered to a pedophiles web, the story is a dialy battle that drags them in search of an explanation for a “so-called” uncle who requires them to do that particular kind of things. both grow up but the life struggles still the same, following a brotherhood philosophy, they sleep in the streets and seek for money through prostitution and theft. but will they be able to deal with such strangeness and familiar dislocation when they find their own home and real family?

no shit, CLINT EASTWOOD deserves all the respect in the world for all the great movies he produced during all these years. despite of being one of those HOLLYWOOD DINOSAURS, he knows what he wants and does it well. after directing the american drama “CHANGELING“, he presents itself this time as an actor in the role of WALT KOWALSKI, a veteran of war who hates everything and everyone especially those who are not americans. he faces some problems since his wife’s death and only looks for strength and support in his old dog, who together trying to establish peace and respect on the neighborhood. impossible friendships become beautiful stories, showing that same cultures doesn’t necessarily means love or union. a negative point goes to the role of THAO VANG LOR, which i think it’s very forced and a bit fake acting.

but still a GRAN EASTWOOD PRODUCTION!
